Team Avaya

Nathan is the creator of Team Avaya (formerly Seagate) NZ’s most successful Adventure Racing Team. In 2001 he submitted a sponsorship proposal to Seagate to form a Professional Squad of NZ athletes. Seagate signed off and in 2002 Nathan captained the team to victory in the infamous Eco Challenge, which was held in Fiji. The team dominated for a number years winning races around the globe until 2005 when Nathan stepped back from racing for a period, after winning the World Championships. In 2011 he reformed the team that has once again dominated the international scene. The team won the World Championships in 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2021 after placing 3rd in 2011. They have won a record number of World Series events , they were the first team ever in 25-years of Adventure Racing to attain the maximum world ranking points. 2017 marked the end of the Seagate sponsorship, the longest running team sponsor in the sport, Avaya have taken over the title sponsorship.
